To our Valued Customers and our Community,

On behalf of our team for covid, I am writing to you directly with an update on what we are doing to prioritise your, and our, health and safety when you visit us at Tech Window or when we assist you at your workplace or home.

Covid-19 started as a distant concern but as every day passes it appears that it is reaching closer to our community and our everyday lives. At Tech Window, we provide assistance to all our valued customers with their personal devices, computers and business systems both in-store and onsite on a daily basis. Whilst our customer base varies, we recognise that many of our customers are senior citizens, many of whom Covid-19 could have a greater impact on, so it is very important to us to do what we can within our store or if we visit you at home.

To make sure we can keep on serving you to the standard you love and expect, we have put in place an updated cleaning and sanitising plan to limit exposure of contagion. To maintain both your, and our, safety whilst we assist you either in-store or onsite, the following measures have been implemented:

• Increased hand hygiene between jobs
• Increased work-space sanitisation throughout the day
• Disinfecting all devices received prior to handling
• Wearing gloves when working on devices for extended periods of time
• Disinfecting devices prior to returning them to you

We recognise that some customers may have additional concerns or have pre-existing conditions which could greatly be affected by contracting a virus such as Covid-19. For these customers, you are welcome to contact us, and we will work with you to further minimise any potential risks.

Yours sincerely,

Gavin Barnes

Working Remotely in an Emergency – Will you need to?,

With Covid-19 reaching closer to our local community, how will this affect your ability to work or, if you are a local business owner, how will this affect you, your staff and your businesses ability to survive though this epidemic?

There are many ways of maintaining your sanity through this tough time but now is the time to be exploring the options and preparing yourself and/or your business. Waiting for COVID-19 be here on our doorstep will be too late to act.

There are always options and they definitely do not need to cost a fortune to prepare yourself for the inevitable. Tech Window can assist you so please give us a call if you would like to maintain your business continuity.

Sometimes the simplest way forward is to not reinvent the wheel so I have included the below links to an articles which hopefully will help you decide whether or not you need to be considering options for working remotely.

Please remember that working remotely is an option for many positions/job roles so no matter who you are, perhaps now is the time to be getting prepared and asking your employer or your employees how you can best work together.

Once again, if there is anything we can assist with then please contact us at Tech Window and we will do our best to find the right solution for you.

Yours sincerely,

February 18 is Battery day

Battery Day.

Battery DayIt is a battery day to acknowledge the device that makes it possible for the smallest household items to the largest heavy-duty  equipment to work smoothly.

What should we do on this  Day?

Well, we could celebrate the the fact that thanks to our forefathers and their Peers, we have these magic things called SMARTPHONES, TABLETS & LAPTOPS amongst other things …

We could use today as a reminder to have our batteries checked, tested and replaced. All batteries degrade over time so here is a small list of batteries that you could consider having checked, tested or replaced.

  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Laptops
  • Smoke Alarms
  • Car Batteries
  • Backup torch batteries which are in your kitchen drawer for those dark and lonely night when the electricity fails.
  • plus so much more

Please feel free to drop by Tech Window should you need any assistance or if you would like us to test your device for you to see if it is functioning as intended.

What is a Battery

According to WikiPedia, An electric device consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections provided to power electrical devices such as flashlightssmartphones, and electric cars.[1]

Italian physicist Alessandro Volta built and described the first electrochemical battery, the voltaic pile, in 1800.[8] This was a stack of copper and zinc plates, separated by brine-soaked paper disks, that could produce a steady current for a considerable length of time. Volta did not understand that the voltage was due to chemical reactions. He thought that his cells were an inexhaustible source of energy,[9] and that the associated corrosion effects at the electrodes were a mere nuisance, rather than an unavoidable consequence of their operation.

Who coined the word “Battery”

The usage of “battery” to describe a group of electrical devices dates to Benjamin Franklin, who in 1748 described multiple Leyden jars by analogy to a battery of cannon[6] (Benjamin Franklin borrowed the term “battery” from the military, which refers to weapons functioning together[7]).
